The OPP have released a clay facial reconstruction in the hope of identifying human remains first recovered in Algonquin Park back in 1980. On April 19th of that year a hiker using the Hardwood Lookout Trail in Algonquin located human remains. In addition to closing this case, the hope is that the technology could be used in other such cases.


Road Closure slated for North Bay

O’Brien Street will be closed between Ski Club Road and Albert Avenue from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. today. The city’s Roads Department will be conducting road maintenance in the area. Detours are in place.


Testimony wraps up in 2014 Lockerby Mine Trial

As the trial involving First Nickel Inc’s Lockerby mine continues, a former owner of Taurus Drilling Services says he didn’t see anything worrisome in First Nickel’s Lockerby mine before the fatal 2014 incident that killed two Taurus Drilling Services workers. Taurus Drilling and First Nickel Inc. are on trial in Sudbury for a total of 12 charges under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.


Timmins murder trial conviction overturned

A Court of Ontario has overturned a murder conviction against a Timmins man. Byron Spence was serving a sentence a life sentence for the October 2009 shooting death of his half-brother. However, this week the Appeal Court of Ontario overturned that decision and has ordered that a new trial be held.


New fish in the Creek?

Junction Creek in Greater Sudbury, is now the new home for a new fish. A pumpkinseed fish, similar to a rock bass or bluegill, represents the 17th species the stewardship committee has found in the upper reaches of the creek. Commonly referred to as the sunfish, the Junction Creek Stewardship Committee, indicates there is nothing to worry about. It’s native to the area, just never found them in the creek and speaks to the health of the creek.


30-Year-old facing 4 assault charges

North Bay Police says that they nabbed a 30-year-old on assault charges. Det. Cont. Erin Pemberton says that it all began with a call to a local home…

During the investigation, three other incidents of assault charges were uncovered. The Male is facing a number of charges.
