Gravelle is back from extended leave

After depression diagnoses and a 5-month reprieve… Northern Development and Mines Minister Michael Gravelle is making the transition back to work. Gravelle announced in February last year that he would be taking a leave from his cabinet position after being diagnosed with depression the previous year.


Delays this morning on MR55

Westbound motorists on MR55 are advised of a 15-minute road closure. The road closure is associated with the CPR overhead bridge rehabilitation located approximately 500 metres west of Power Street.


New digs for Hydro One

If you’re accustomed to paying your power bill in person, Hydro One customers in Greater Sudbury says that they’re new location is open and operational. The location on 500 Barrydowne Rd. They are open from 8am – 4pm.


Forest Fire in North Bay area, currently at .1 hectors

A new forest fire has sparked up in the North Bay area. Reportedly warm, and dry weather has raised the forest fire hazard to high in the central portion of northeastern Ontario. The fire known as North Bay 5 is not control under at only 0.1 of a hectare. Fire personnel are attending.


Flashy lights up on Timmins sign

Timmins drivers are being reminded this morning, of a few new “flashy” stop signs. The stop signs are located at the corner of Third Avenue and Spruce Street and have flashing lights attached to the signs that seems to have caught the attention of a lot of people. The city says this is all in response to a safety concern voiced earlier this year.


Collision in downtown North Bay

Word is still coming in on what exactly caused a collision in downtown North Bay last night. It happened at around 7:00pm, involving three vehicles at the corner of McIntyre and Fisher streets. There is no word yet as to injuries or charges.


MP Charlie Angus absent at next debate for leadership

The next NDP leadership debate will apparently be with out Timmins-James Bay MP, Charlie Angus. The next bid for Tom Mulcair’s will be in Victoria tomorrow. Angus says he cannot come on account that there is a family illness.

Sudbury Police have once again started up Operation Dry Water, ahead of the long weekend. Katelyn Dunn from Sudbury Police says that their goal when stopping a boat where they believe there may be open alcohol is enact the law…


No accidental fires… almost.

There are… almost no accidents when it comes to fires. At least that’s according to North Bay Fire Chief Jason Whitley. This is following a house fire in North Bay this week caused by a smoking materials. Whitely Spoke to KFM news and says community safety is a team effort…

There were no injuries as the homeowner was out for a walk at the time.


15 charges are laid following a series of assaults

Timmins Police have laid 15 charges, following a series of incidents between a between a suspect and a victim. This if following cases including multiple assaults, threats, damage to the victim’s property. A 42 year-old man from Timmins was held for a bail hearing.
