Police investigate another Pedestrian Collision

Authorities are looking into a pedestrian collision , that occurred yesterday on Notre Dame Ave in Greater Sudbury. The collision involving a motor vehicle and a man in a wheel chair. The elderly man has been transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and there is no word yet, as to charges.
Three teachers in Greater Sudbury will face disciplinary hearings over allegations of misconduct. Two are from the English Catholic school board and one from Rainbow District. They are charged with a number of issues including assault. In one case one teacher was reported to be swearing at students, losing his temper and tearing cords out of the wall.


Espanola Man Charged in Weapons Incident

An 23-year-old Espanola resident is facing assault charges, following an incident, involving a knife. It all took place near the RBC bank on Tudhope Street, where a woman and her boyfriend encountered the male who pulled the weapon, and started making threats. The woman was able to report the male who was located and arrested by police.


Campground to empty after eviction notice

Staff and Campers Dutrisac Cottages and Campground in Sturgeon Falls were handed an eviction notice this week. The ownership says they were told by the ministry that area lagoons are no longer permitted for septic sewage. Different options to correct the problem were reportedly given, but all between $500,000 and $1.8 million.


Drivers reminded to slow down as speeding spikes

Drivers aren’t getting the message when it comes to speed. That’s according to the OPP who say there has been a spike in incidents Province Wide. So far, this month there has been a 36-per-cent increase over the same month last year. Among those, Police tagged 39 drivers with stunt driving, with speeds in excess of 50 km/h over the posted limit.


Funding under fire at Timmins City Council

Over ¼ of a million dollars worth of funding was a hot topic for Timmins City Council this week. It all surrounds a Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation infuse of nearly $370,000 headed to the Stars and Thunder festival. Some councilors stated they don’t believe the grant should have been added into the Mayor’s final presentation because it doesn’t give a clear picture of the financial loss.

Tipster calls in major drug deal

North Bay Police say they’ve laid charges on a 26-year-old man following a major drug bust. This is after a call about a suspicious vehicle parked in the Marshall Avenue area. Police investigated, and seized heroine, fentanyl, cocaine and marijuana with a street value of over $50,000. Over $5500 in cash, and weapons were also located.
