Multi-Vehicle Collision on Lasalle Boulevard

Greater Sudbury Police say they were on the scene of a multi-vehicle collision on Lasalle Boulevard yesterday afternoon, just before the supper hour. Two vehicles sustained damage, and one vehicle had to be removed, but little other information is as yet, available.


Sawmill moving forward?

Bonfield Township is one step closer to getting a new $140-million sawmill facility. This week, at council the rezoning of the mill site was approved by the town’s council in front of a full house. The land is a 212-acre parcel on Highway 17 and Trout Pond Road .


Two in custody following home invasion

Two are in custody following a home invasion in Timmins. Cooperate communications coordinator, Kate Catin says that police received information indicating that unknown persons had attended a residence and assaulted the homeowner…

Construction on time, and on budget

While the Lakeshore overpass may be causing drivers some delays during the morning commute, is on budget… and on schedule. KFM spoke with Mayor Al MacDonald who says that it is set to wrap up in October

MacDonald also mentioned that the Trout Lake Overpass is slated to be wrapped up in October.


Schools chipping in on clean-up

Two local Timmins area school are teaming up to help clean-up the community. Northern College and the College Boreal Timmins Campus say they’re going to be cleaning up the Gillies Lake area this Friday. The clean-up will run from 10:00am to 12:00pm.


Snow removal up for discussion

While winter is a full season away, snow removal was the talk this week in the Nickle City. The operations committee this week voted to order a business case for increased winter sidewalk maintenance in several areas that include 26 km of additional sidewalk requiring winter maintenance throughout the city. A move that could several hundred thousand dollars to implement.


Male charged for giving fake name

A North Bay man has been charged by Timmins police. This is after a call regarding a suspicious person in the downtown area. When city cops arrived, the male tried giving them a fake name, a gag, which according to Communication Coordinator, Kate Catin didn’t last long.


71-year-old impaired with drunk driving

East Algoma OPP out of Elliot Lake say they’ve hauled a 71-year-old driver off the road. Reports say, the motor vehicle he was driving almost caused a head on collision on Highway 17 near Highway 108. When Police finally got the driver stopped, he was interviewed and charged for impaired driving.
