Missing Teen: 16-year-old Shawn Gauthier

Authorities in Sudbury are looking for a missing teen this morning. He is 16-year-old Shawn Gauthier was last since August 18th at around 4 p.m. in the New Sudbury area. The teen is a white male, standing 5-5 and weighing 115 lbs. with red, medium-length hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing grey jogging pants, a grey hoodie and black shoes. Anyone with information should contact Police.


New Play structure goes in at Calvin Township

The town of Calvin Township now has a new reason to slide into fun for the last week of Summer Holidays. Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli was on hand this week to announce $6,600 toward the purchase of a new slide, climbing structure and a teeter-tooter. Fedeli says “The goal is to foster more active lifestyles and accessible infrastructure for physical activity.”


Plants up-rooted in Timmins

Bannerman Park has recently been the target of a plant heist, and volunteers are less than impressed. They say sometime after the summer concert at Bannerman Park ended Thursday night, and before 11 a.m. Friday, somebody uprooted and removed a large number of plants. The species of plants taken were black eyed susans, tree lilies, bee balms, and day lilies.


Teen struck at vehicle in Sudbury

The Traffic Management Unit at the Greater Sudbury Police is investigating a pedestrian collision. They say it happened yesterday evening at around 8:30 when a 17-year old, male was struck by a vehicle on Main Street in the area of Sandy Beach Drive Valley East. The youth was walking his bike on the shoulder of the roadway when he was struck by a vehicle traveling in the same direction. The pedestrian sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Health Sciences North by EMS .


Premier responds to PC request

Premier Kathleen Wynne has responded to Ontario PC’s who says the Government has been “dragging their feet” when it comes to dealing with the rise of Opioid overdose in the Province. This is an issue MPP Vic Fedeli says is felt across P.C. Caucus,

The Premier said this week that for the last year, a comprehensive Opioid strategy has been in place, making naloxone free to anyone in need in over 200 cities and towns across Ontario.


Driver, pedestrian safety reminders in Timmins

A reminder has gone out once again from Timmins Police when it comes to driver pedestrian safety…. Kate Catin is with city Police and says with School less than a week away…


Woman facing charges after a weapons incident

A 37-year-old woman from Greater Sudbury is facing an arms length of charges, after a weapons complaint in the McCrea Heights area in Val Caron. It happened yesterday around noon, when the woman broke into a residence and threatened the two men inside. During the incident, one of the men sustained a minor injury to his hand and was treated on scene.


Parking charges needed at the falls

Some residents on Manitoulin say more needs to be done in regards to parking near Bridal Veil Falls. Thy say that when vehicles parked on both sides of the road near the famous sightseeing spot, large trucks can often be coming down the middle of the road. Some say MTO needs to put up large no parking signs at the Bridal Veil Falls bridge area.


Car seat safety reminders – OPP

The OPP across the Province have put another round of reminders, when it comes to car seats. Constable Bev Gauthier says often while Parents know the rules, caregivers may not…. And adds that when it when it comes to child safety, there is no exception.

In Ontario, children under age 8, who weigh less than 36 kg (80 lb.) and are under 145 cm (4-foot-9) tall, must be secured in an appropriate child seat or booster. Once any of these limits are surpassed, the child only needs to wear a seat belt.
