Numbers take off at Sudbury Airport

Numbers are soaring when it comes to passenger traffic at the Greater Sudbury Airport this year. The Airport says they posted a 29% increase in the number of travelers visiting the airport in later months of Summer, with just over 24,800 touching down or taking off compared to just over 19,330 at this point last year.


Impaired driver facing charges following rush hour collision

A Quebec man is facing charges in connection to a two-vehicle collision. Constable Shona Camirand says it happened during rush hour traffic at the Ccassells/Hwy 11 bypass… and says when police arrived…

A 30 year old from Gatineau, QC, was arrested and charged.


Council sends out tenders for Hollinger

Timmins city council sent out tenders yesterday afternoon, when it comes to Hollinger park. This is in response the city’s desire to remediate the incidence of heavy metal contaminants previously found in the topsoil in the park. It is for an area roughly 5.67 acres, inside the fenced area of the park.


Relax, it’s only Vale

The Vale reseeding program in Greater Sudbury has started up, but it evidently has caused some confusion and even panic. Apparently, to the point where someone called 911. Katelyn Dunn is with Sudbury Police and takes it from the top.

The Police are reminding the public the program is an annual event.


Death of a minor under investigation

The death of a minor in greater Sudbury is under investigation in Greater Sudbury. The regional supervising coroner says a full investigation is being done at HSN. Greater Sudbury Police Service responded to a call at the Louis Street home this week.


Kate Pace-way headed for more closures

The city of North Bay says ahead of many getting out and enjoying the late summer warmth during the final week of the season, they’ve announced more rehabilitation to the Kate Pace Way. They say that sections of the trial will be closed along Memorial Drive, and will involve asphalt removal, grading, compacting, and surface paving.


New Campaign put out by OPP

The OPP Province wide say they’re launching a new campaign under the hashtag #KnowWhenToCall. They say that more than 142,00 9-1-1 calls came in during the first part of the year, 2000 of which were pocket dials. The campaign aims to further educate the public on unintentional calls including pocket dials to 9-1-1.
