Possible Human remains found in Greater Sudbury

Greater Sudbury Police have been alerted to potential human remains discovered by a resident near Fieldstone Drive in the Flour Mill area of Greater Sudbury. Police are working with the Coroner’s Office to investigate the discovery, the release said. Testing will be done to determine the identity of the individual.


Woman charged after assault, uttering threats

A Woman in her twenties has been charged for uttering threats. It all began at a local residence in North Bay. Police say it started when the woman head-butted her male partner, causing minor injuries. She then threatened him. The woman was released on a promise to appear.


Sears in the Sault Ste. Marie close after 43 years.

After 43 years, Sears in the Sault has closed its doors. Throughout the last few months the store gradually sold off everything from stock and store fixings. During the last day, most items had significantly lowered sticker prices. This is all apart of a larger National Chain closure.


Lock it or lose it.

Police out of Elliot Lake are reminding residents to lock it or lose it. In addition, items such as loose change, purses and wallets, electronic devices and chargers, should also be kept out of sight. Police say this often removes the temptation, from “would-be” thieves.


College plan to remain open as strike or lockout approaches

Both Northern College and College Boreal have plans in place to keep as much open for students as possible, but this is all in the reality that the Ministry of Labour has approved a strike or lockout, which could start on October 15th across all 24 college campuses. The Ontario Public Service Employees Union is asking for a mandate over education quality issues including low employee wages, and no benefits or job security.


Speeder hauled off the road

A northern Ontario man is facing charges for excessive speeding. The OPP says it took place on Highway 101 in Bristol Township. Police stopped a diver going 140 kilometers an hour in an 80 zone. The 23-year-old is facing charges of racing a motor vehicle, a seven-day license suspension and seven day vehicle impounding.


Sears in North Bay remains Open

Sears in Northgate Shopping Centre will remain open, despite closure of the chain nation wide. 11 stores however are closing including major locations in Toronto, Winnipeg and Montreal, and Sault Ste. Mare. The Toronto-based company is also seeking an extension of the court’s protection from creditors until Nov. 7.


3-Vehicle Crash slows traffic

Police, Fire and Ambulance responded to a three-vehicle collision on Algonquin Avenue just before 1 p.m yesterday. Southbound traffic was bottle-necked into has been reduced to one lane. There has been no word yet as to injuries or charges.


Timmins Mac’ getting a conceptual study

Timmins City council has given the thumbs up to developing a conceptual study on what might be done to enhance or upgrade the McIntyre Community Building. This is all in the hopes the Mac could be rejuvenated. The most recent design project done for Timmins was the aquatic centre project conceptual design study which cost the city $158,000 in 2015.
