Replace or Renovate… the discussion is on hold.

The discussion to either renovate or replace the Sudburys Cop Shop was put to a later meeting last night at city council. The decision comes almost a year after another consultant, says the Greater Sudbury Police headquarters says a new or renovated building is pressing. The current headquarters on Brady Street was converted from office space in the 1990’s.


Arena to stay in West Farris?

More talk of the West Farris arena was had at North Bay city council. The suggestion was made by one city councillor that the community hub could take over land surrounding West Ferris Intermediate and Secondary School. An idea already suggested by some at the Near North District School Board.


Bears must be dealt with – Area residents

Some residents in South Porcupine resident are calling for something to be done regarding nuisance bears. They say a number of residents are forced to use bins, and many have been forced to give up their gardens as they act as an attractant. This is also after a close call where some area kids found a bear in their driveway… when they stepped out for school.


Missing Patient from HSN – Jonathan Smith

The Greater Sudbury Police are requesting the public’s assistance in locating Jonathan SMITH. He’s 46 years old. Caucasian male, 5’11”, 250 lbs and unkept ear length brown hair. Jonathan left Health Sciences North earlier today and Police are now trying him due to medical concerns. If Jonathan is seen please call 911.


Info sought after kitten was found on highway

The Ontario SPCA is seeking information from the public regarding a small cat found on the side of Highway 17 in Wahnapitae. It was located about 15 kilometres east of Sudbury. A veterinary examination revealed the kitten was underweight, lethargic and suffering from a low body temperature. The animal is now improving, following treatment.


Collision remains under investigation

Sault Ste. Marie Police say they’re still investigating a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Trunk Road and Highway 17 East.  They say a motor-home operated by an 85-year-old male was travelling westbound on the highway, when it lost control and crossed the roadway into the eastbound lane of traffic just west of the traffic lights. The collision involved three motor vehicles and the highway was closed for approximately 4 1/2 hours.
