As of 2:30pm today, an online petition seeking refunds for college tuition topped 87,000 signatures today, and it’s only day 4. It’s all to seek a refund — $30 a day for full-time students and $20 a day for part-time students — for the half million Ontario college students shut out of classes for the second day of a province-wide faculty strike. KFM Spoke to John Patterson today who is the President of Local 657 for Canadore College and he says action is going to take Students speaking their mind.
Twenty-four colleges, including Cambrian, Canadore, College Boreal, Sault College and Northern College are stand on one side of the labour dispute, while roughly 12,000 faculty represented by the Ontario Public Service Employees Union are digging in on picket lines on the other side.
