Moose spotted in New Sudbury

New Sudbury unintentionally sported some animal patriotism over the weekend. With a moose… on the loose and careening through the area. It was spotted in a pond off Lasalle, near the Montrose Mall. Authorities say it then had a close call with two cars, including a police cruiser. Police have confirmed by twitter that the moose is off roadway, but drivers are reminded to drive with care.
 

Driver in custody, following colission

One person is in hospital and another is in custody for impaired driving, following a single vehicle crash just before midnight on Saturday in North Bay. It happened on Front Street near the intersection of McLeod Street. No further details are being released at this time.
 

Visitors not allowed in wing of Timmins Hospital

The flowers and the get-well card may have to wait if you’re planning on visiting a loved one at the Timmins and District Hospital. At least, in the Medical B Unit. It is closed to visitors until further notice, due to a number of patients with Vancomycin Resistant Enterococcus. TADH put out the first warning about VRE on October 30th.
 

Flood watch in effect for Sault Ste. Marie

A flood watch was put into effect this weekend in Sault Ste. Marie as the rainfall warning continues. The regional conservation Authority says rain, rain and more rain is expected for today. 30 – 70 mm of rain between Monday and Tuesday. Currently, local rivers, creeks and streams are flowing at normal levels.
 

North Bay Woman’s killer sought

Police continue to pour over surveillance video from more than 5 cameras, perhaps the only witnesses to what exactly took place, with former North Bay resident Tess Richey, found deceased in Toronto last week. Richey was last seen with an unknown male in the area between 2 and 5 a.m. on Nov. 25. He is described as white, about 5-foot-7 with a slim build and light-coloured short hair.
 

Male in custody on domestic, weapons charges

A Sault Ste. Marie man, has been charged with following a domestic incident, just before the weekend. Constable Sonny Spina spoke to KFM news and says when police arrived to deal with the issue

The 53-year-old was held in custody, pending a bail hearing.
