Avoid romaine lettuce… until further notice

While dinner is not yet on your mind… perhaps a lunch salads packed for the office should be avoided, if it includes romaine lettuce should be avoided. The Sudbury and District Health Unit says that an investigation is ongoing regarding E. coli and that any romaine lettuce should be avoided until the investigation is complete.
 

More snow coming for the North

While much of the cold is loosening its grip this morning across the North, many have woken up to snow. Environment Canada says that both the Greater Sudbury area and much of North Bay Powassan and Mattawa could see as much as 15 to 20 cm before tonight.
Drivers in North Bay are advised to excursive caution this morning on Algonquin Ave near Maplewood Ave. This is after a plow truck hit a hydro poll and knocking free some of the wires. Both Police and Hydro One have responded to clear the scene.
 

Snow removal continues this week in Timmins

Meanwhile Timmins drivers heading out to work or school this morning are reminded to keep an eye on their speed, especially around Timmins South – Dale, Ogden, Sterling, Lee , Moneta will all see plow trucks working to keep roads clear.

Building evacuated, condemned

An apartment building in the Uptown neighborhood near Marymount College and Collège Notre-Dame has been evacuated. Despite being known by many as both beautiful and historic, it was discovered over the weekend by emergency personnel that that the building itself had no heat, water or working fire alarms. Its residents are now housed in a local hotel by the Red Cross.
 

Sault Council in session tonight

Sault Saint Marie Council is back in session tonight. Two city councillors are asking that the city’s five major departments to pen a list of all discretionary spending for council. The list would be used as a tool for council to consider possible saving options, during budget deliberations.
