School changes hands

Nippising University says they’ve sold their campus to a Mississauga-based independent high school. In a release from Nip U the sale involves two buildings, a 26,000-square foot educational facility and a residential complex. Nipissing announced it was consolidating its programs to the North Bay campus in 2015 and closed the Bracebridge campus in 2016.
 

Apartment in Greater Sudbury is evacuated

A Sudbury apartment building, said by many to be a beautiful and historic structure had to be evacuated this week, it’s residence? Housed by the Red Cross. This is after Police were called to the Montcalm Avenue apartment to find it had heat, no water, and no working fire alarm. The matter is under investigation.
 

OPP – Stay off the Ice

Residents in the Timmins area are being reminded to stay off the ice, when it comes to the Mattagami River. The OPP say that despite the recent freeze, the unpredictable nature of the ice makes it dangerous to travel, and to stay clear.
 

Splash pad coming to the Sault

While Summer is still more than full season, one group says they’re looking to make it a good one in Sault Ste. Marie. Lakeshore Kiwanis says their pouring $85,000 into the creation of a splash pad in the city. The service group says that this is all for the creation of the facility, which will include lockers, change rooms and showers.
 

Tournament makes return for 2018

It’s Canada’s national pastime, and this year it returns to the Pond in Greater Sudbury. The Pond Hockey Festival on the Rock that was cancelled last year because of weather, leading to the heart break of many in the community. Now? The ninth annual charitable event happening Feb 2nd-4th. There will be 10 rinks on Ramsey Lake.
 

Sears Closes shop in North Bay

Another chapter for Sears Canada has closed North. The North Bay location has shut its doors for good. It marks a significant chance for many faithful customers. The retail giant announced the closure in the fall.
