5 Positions eliminated at HSN

It’s a major change, when it comes to the face senior management at HSN. Five positions were eliminated at Health Sciences North in Sudbury, just before the weekend. After more than 300 meetings, CEO Dominic Giroux says among other positions, Vice-President positions including Vice-President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer and Associate Vice-President, Medical Affairs have been eliminated. The hospital says the total compensation for these five positions was just over $800,000.
 

Fatal Collision on Highway 17

Police are investigation a fatal collision that shut down highway 17 for better part of six hours Saturday. They say it happened just east of Cache Bay Road. Reports indicate an east bound Doge Ram collided with a West Bound ford Fusion just after 7:00pm. The 73-year-old driver of the Fusion, a West-Nippising Man, has been pronounced dead. The driver of the truck was taken to hospital.

Vehicle Fire closes Highway

Elsewhere a vehicle fire closed a portion of the Highway 17 near Nairn Centre last night. There is no word as to injures, nor the cause of the fire. The OPP fire occurred about eight kilometres east of Nairn Centre.
 

North Bay to back Timmins facility?

In a bid for the Noront ferrochrome production facility, North Bay City Council could be putting their support behind Timmins. One North Bay city councillor is expected to table a motion this week to that end, due to the proposed involvement of Ontario Northland. Timmins is competing with Sudbury, Sault Ste. Marie and Thunder Bay to bring a ferrochrome facility to the North.
 

Police changing hands to the O.P.P.

Prince Township near Sault Ste. Marie says OPP will be taking over Policing of the community starting next year. The shift away from Sault Ste. Marie Police is expected to be a significant tax saver for local residents. The change of command will happen next January.
 

Impaired driving numbers in for 2017

Impaired driving numbers are in for Timmins Police and they’re not good. That’s according to Kate Catin from city Police who says the target number is Zero.

Catin says they’re were charged at all hours of the day.

The average age of drivers charged was 35, of which 26 male drivers charged and 9 females drivers charged.
