Missing Sudbury man located deceased

The search for a missing Greater Sudbury man has ended in tragedy. The body of 27-year-old Tyler Haney has been found in the wooded area behind Centennial Arena Hanmer. He was found on January 14th at around 2:00 p.m by a rider on an ATV. No foul play is suspected… Haney has been missing since November.
 

Drunk driver sentenced to three-years

A 36-year-old North Bay area driver, will spend the next three years in prison… following a fatal collision. It was two-and a half years ago when a single-vehicle crash took the life of a Mattawa woman. Alcohol and speed was said to be a factor. The man is also prohibited from driving for 10 years and was ordered to provide a DNA sample.
 

Environmentalists concerned over lakes future

Porcupine Lake, once said to be a picturesque location is the focus is some environmentalists, who are taking their fight to the Canadian Environmental Law Association, regarding the water’s condition. They say that sewage is now being bypassed into the lake. And apart from the odour, there are potential risks for health and the environment.
 

Man in critical condition, following confrontation

A Sault Ste. Marie man is in critical condition, after a stabbing incident just before the weekend. While the details of the incident are few, Police say that the two men involved in the confrontation were known to each other, and there is no concern for public safety.
 

Automatic equipment, coming to Greater Sudbury

Talk of “slowing down” will soon turn to action, and perhaps a ticket in the mail. This is all thanks to automated traffic enforcement coming to Greater Sudbury, later this year. Automatic speed enforcement, red light cameras can all be expected in areas where is high traffic, or in school zones. The announcement was all part of a larger report from the city’s traffic and asset management supervisor, this week.

Sault Ste. Marie closing Sunday’s

Many Sault Ste Marie Residents have bookmarked September 10th on their calendar, as a day that will mark a shift in service. The city’s public Library said this week that they would star closing down on Sunday, in hopes to save $7,000. Many however have been left starching their heads, as many say the three hours the library is open that day are among the busiest times of the week.
