A 100k donation made to One Kids Place

One kids Place in North Bay says another donation, of not only cash… but generosity is making a difference in the North. This is after the Insurance Brokers Association of North Bay made a donation $100,000 this week. One Kids Place executive director Denis Filiatrault said, will help improve the quality of service such as specialty equipment for those in need.

He said the equipment provided by the centre to children and family can be extremely expensive, and a donation like this helps to close the gap.
 

New lights, up and working

If you plan on heading out this morning by Municipal Road 35, you’ll have to watch for the lights. Traffic Lights light is. Motorists in are advised that the permanent traffic signals recently installed on Municipal Road 35 at the Day Construction/Milman Industries entrance, and are now activate.
 

Jewelry thief wanted

A swift moving thief is wanted by North Bay Police following a trip to a local jeweller. It happened at a Main Street location. City Police say that the male expressed interest in several pieces of jewelry and handled the boxes they came in several times. When the male left the store, the boxes, were found to be empty. The employee describes the male as having olive skin, dark hair, spoke with an unfamiliar accent, heavy set and approximately 35 to 40 years old.

 

New Bus Routes across the North

Everybody on the bus… it’s now boarding in Sault Ste Marie. Ontario Northland says they’ve expanded bus service westward to include Espanola, Sault Ste. Marie, Wawa and White River. The move was made following a provincial government announcement announcing the expansion of inter-community bus service, with a greater emphasis put on Northern Ontario.
 

24-year-old taken in to custody, following robbery

Sault Ste. Marie Police say they’ve taken a 24-year-old man into custody, following a Wellington Street East for robbery. It is alleged that on January 10th just before 7:30 p.m. the accused and another male forced their way into the apartment of a male known to them while wearing masks and armed with a knife and stick. The accused threatened the victim and took his prescription medication before fleeing the scene.
 

Vehicle roll-over in Sudbury

Greater Sudbury Police, fire and EMS responded to a single-vehicle rollover on Brady Street on Tuesday night. The extent of the injuries to the occupants was not released.
