Electrical fire causes 100k in damage

It was full lights and sirens to a structure fire on Agnes street, yesterday in greater Sudbury. Upon arrival just before 5:00pm Sudbury Fire services, flames seen coming through the roof were brought under control. The cause of the fire may have been caused by an electrical fault. One firefighter suffered a minor injury, and the damage is estimated at $100,000.00.
 

Soo Police looking for a driver in a fatal hit-and-run

Sault Ste. Marie Police are looking for the driver in a fatal hit-and-run. They say at approximately 12:45 p.m. yesterday, they responded to a call on Second Line West near Turner Avenue. This is after a black SUV was travelling Eastbound on Second Line West before it allegedly struck the pedestrian on the roadway and then fled the scene. An adult male pedestrian was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to injuries.
Officers believe that the vehicle will have damage to the front end including a broken bug deflector. The vehicle may also be missing a Chevrolet decal.
 

Wynn in Sudbury today

The Ontario Premier will be in Sudbury Today. Kathleen Wynne will be at Crosscut Distillery, to make an announcement before flying to Thunder Bay for another event this evening. Wynne’s Liberals have recently fallen to third place in recent polls. KFM will have full details as they come this afternoon at 3:00pm.
 

Fedeli says PC platform promises parental rebates

Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli was in North Bay yesterday, unveiling a Ford PC plan that would see the introduction of a new childcare tax rebate for parents of children under 15 years of age. The PC plan would promise an Ontario Child Care Rebate that would cover up to 75 percent of the family’s childcare expenses, up to $6,750 per year, per child up to the age of 15, with low-income families receiving the most support.
 

Suspect wanted in shoplifting incident

Crime Stoppers and the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service are asking for your assistance in identifying a suspect in theft.  On the May 13, 2018 at approximately 1 p.m. an unknown male entered a Rexall Drugstore located at 13 Second Line West. The suspect took three Conair grooming kits valued at $150 each. It appears he may have a large tattoo on his left forearm.
 

Timmins area man arrested on warrent

The Timmins Police Service has apprehended 41-year-old Richard (“Ricky”) Green, of Schumacher. The arrest happened without incident late yesterday afternoon.  Green is being held in custody on the strength of an arrest warrant on charges that include murder in the second degree.
