Battery-powered mining equipment in Sudbury is getting some international attention. The cities growing mining expertise has attracted the interest of managers and engineers from the world’s largest copper producer (Codelco) from Chile. The country’s state-run mining company are in town for a 5-day tour.
Sudbury has been working in the development and use of battery-powered electric vehicles. The international company is Sudbury (Starting on Aug. 5) to begin a five-day tour of operations and suppliers in Sudbury and Kirkland Lake. The Aug 5-9 visit is organized by Sudbury and Area Mining Supply and Services Association (SAMSSA). The main goal of Codelco visit to learn as much as they can about battery electric vehicles in underground mines.
