OPP find impaired driver in drive-through, arrest a second for theft

Manitoulin OPP has laid charges on a male following an incident at a drive-through. A quick-thinking attendant recognized the driver at the window at a local establishment may have been impaired and called Police. A 45-year-old from Espanola, Ontario was subsequently stopped and charged.
The accused was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola, Ontario on September 16, 2019. The OPP reminds motorists that there is no safe amount of drug or alcohol consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver that is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialling 9-1-1 immediately.
Elsewhere,
OPP out of Temiskaming say on a lead out of North Bay they’ve laid charges in the theft of an excavator. This is after the stolen machine, worth $69,000 was found on a property in Harley Township. A 36-year-old Coleman Township is facing charges.
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC); and
• Fail to Comply with Probation Order, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC.
The Temiskaming Community Street Crime Unit and a Scenes of Crime Officer were engaged to assist with the investigation. The stolen excavator, valued at approximately, was recovered by police.
On August 4, 2019, members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the OPP arrested and charged the male. He will be in court on August 27.
