Police looking for a missing man: James Fawcett

Greater Sudbury Police are looking for a missing man. 19-year-old James Fawcett. The young man was last seen around 9:30 p.m. Sept. 20 in the area of The Kingsway at Barrydowne, heading toward Marcus Drive. He was wearing black track pants, a hoodie and black Fila running shoes. Fawcett is described as being 6’ tall, with a slim build, weighing around 150 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.
 

Algoma Public Health confirms the regions 31st case of COVID-19

Algoma Public Health has confirmed the region’s 31st case of COVID-19. With that comes the declaration of an outbreak at the F.J. Davey Home. This is the second reported case in the long-term care facility in less than a week. This case remains active and falls under the ‘unknown’ exposure category. That said the individual is self-isolating.
 

Trains, planes and automobile passengers, beware says PHU

Meanwhile travellers on a recent flight, bus and train may have been exposed to COVID-19, according to the Porcupine Health Unit. This pertains to a Sept. 16th flight from Air Canada flight, 8287 Toronto to Timmins. The 7:15 a.m. Ontario Northland bus from Timmins to Cochrane on September 17th and the September 18th – Ontario Northland 9 am train from Cochrane to Moosonee. Travellers are asked to self-monitor for symptoms.
 

United Church is being rebuilt

Grace United Church on Bancroft Drive in Sudbury is being rebuilt. The church was demolished after a lightning strike caused a significant fire over one year ago. Site preparation has now started, and a church will be rebuilt on the site where the former church was located.
 

New lights going up at Veteran’s Field – closes paceway

North Bay city council has once again closed a section of the Kate Pace Way trail until November. The project is for the installation of a new lighting system at Veteran’s Field. Council approved a contract at just under $180,000 The closure includes the portion of the multi-use pathway that runs beneath the Lakeshore Drive overpass.
 

Goodwin recipient of 2020 Nursing Leadership Award from the Canadian College of Health Leaders

A North Bay doctor is getting some well-deserved recognition. Dr Sharon Goodwin, the Senior Vice President of Home and Community Care for the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON) is the recipient of the 2020 Nursing Leadership Award from the Canadian College of Health Leaders (CCHL). This prestigious national award honours those who demonstrate an ongoing commitment to excellence in patient-centred care and leadership.
