New COVID-19 cases announced by 4-health units in the North East

Among COVID-19 counts yesterday into today Algoma Public Health is reporting 11 (eleven) new cases of Coronavirus. All cases are from Sault Ste. Marie and area. Through contact tracing, Algoma Public Health notifies all close contacts directly.
Meanwhile, 3 news cases were announced by Public Health Sudbury and Districts,  the North Bay Parry Sound district health unit announced 2 and the Porcupine Health unit announced 1.

Algoma Public Health is warning of a potential exposure risk on a flight from Windsor to Sault Ste Marie connecting through Toronto. It pertains to Air Canada flight 8498 from Windsor to Toronto, affecting rows 3-9. And Air Canada flight 8321, Toronto to Sault Ste. Marie, affecting rows 3-7. Anyone on those flights should contact the Health Unit directly.
Meanwhile Algoma Public Health is warning of a potential exposure, following a New Year’s Eve gathering at a home in Garden River. It happened in the area of Sage Street without the homeowner’s knowledge. Public Health is advising anyone who attended this gathering to immediately self-isolate and contact Algoma Public Health.
 

Sledders warned to stay off the ice – Greater Sudbury Police

Greater Sudbury Police are warning sledders to stay clear of waterways. This is after a series of recent incidents involving riders breaking through ice. In the past week, several snowmobiles and side-by-sides fall through ice on local lakes and rivers.
 

Time to recheck your smoke alarms and C0 detectors

North Bay fire officials say that as January and sets in, its time for a quick safety check. Specifically, with working Smoke and C0 alarms. Greg Saunders in the Deputy Chief and says they a first line of defense, especially at night.
 

Timmins Police currently on-scene in the area of pine street N and Cedar Street N

Timmins Police Service is currently investigating an incident that was reported to the police late last night. Police responded to the area of Pine Street North and Cedar Street North between Algonquin Blvd and Seventh Avenue at around 11pm. Algonquin Blvd. remains open to traffic at this time.
 

Driver charged with having an “insecure load”

North Bay OPP charged a driver after a load of hydro poles were strewn across the highway yesterday. It happened at Highway 17 and Highway 94. Police on social media Monday afternoon said officers have responded. There were no injures.
