COVID-19 outbreak declared at Amberwood Suites retirement in Greater Sudbury

Among Covid-19 case numbers an outbreak declared at the Amberwood Suites retirement home on Regent Street in Greater Sudbury. This is the second facility for seniors has been impacted by COVID. One resident of the home had tested positive for the virus, but no staff are presently known to be infected.
 

3-new cases of COVID-19 in Kirkland Lake area, 2 in Sault Ste Marie

The Timiskaming Health Unit is reporting three new COVID-19 cases in the Kirkland Lake area. One is the contact of a confirmed case and the other two are under investigation. The individuals are self-isolating and Contact tracing is underway.
Meanwhile, Algoma Public Health is reporting two new cases of COVID-19. Both are from Sault Ste. Marie and area. They were reported yesterday evening.
 

Police looking for 35-year-old Misty Assinewai


Greater Sudbury Police are asking for public assistance in locating a woman who has been missing since the weekend. 35-year old Misty Assinewai, is described as 5-foot-10, with a thin build, long brown hair and brown eyes. According to Police, she was last heard from, Sunday.
 

Skating path in Timmins closed… for now

Those hoping to do some skating at Hollinger Park in Timmins will have to wait. The Timmins Community Park Association have closed the skating path due to mild conditions. It is expected to be closed until colder temperatures arrive.
 

Timmins approve an increase in water and sewer rates

Timmins city Council has approved a $50.00 increase for this year when it comes to water and sewer rates. While that number is based on a five-room house, the increase will be pro-rated for different sized houses. That said its possible the city may look to adopt a 5.5% annual increase over ten years, in June.
 

Uhaul says North Bay is Canada’s No 1. growth city in Canada

North Bay? Is the No. 1 growth city in Canada. At least, that’s according to U-Haul. Those coming to the gateway city in one-way U-Haul trucks increased 20 per cent in 2020, while departures rose by three per cent from 2019.

Fire personnel respond to vehicle fire

North Bay Police have responded to a Vehicle Fire. Station 1 responded to the call at around 6:20 this morning on Eugene Rd. There is no word as the cause.
