10-new cases of COVID-19 announced by two Northern Ontario Health Units

Among COVID-19 cases yesterday into today, Algoma Public Health is reporting 10 new cases Wednesday evening. All are said to be from Sault Ste. Marie and area. Those are among 10 new cases announced by Public Health Sudbury and Districts and 9 from the North Bay Parry Sound district health unit.

The Sault Area Hospital is once again tightening restrictions on who can visit and when. It’s all due to a rising number of positive COVID-19 cases. Designated visitors will only be allowed for labouring mothers, paediatric patients, patients undergoing urgent surgery, long-stay patients with identified support, or patients who are at end-of-life. These visitor restrictions begin tomorrow.

Police are looking for the publics assistance in looking for a missing teen. 15-year-old Brianna Dickson, was last seen the night of Dec. 5 on Fielding Street. She is 5-foot-3, 135 pounds, with auburn hair and blue eyes.

North Bay Police are reminding residents to “lock it or lose it”. This is following reports of attempted vehicle break-ins in the Graniteville area of the city. the North Bay Police Service is reminding the public to lock their vehicles at night.
 

Timmins Police warn of fraud calls

Timmins Police Service is issuing a public safety advisory in relation to a possible fraudulent phone calls. Apparently, someone is calling residents claiming to be from local utility providers or home heating maintenance crews. The caller makes claims about being able to complete furnace maintenance. Police say it’s all fraudulent and to hang up.
