Northern Ontario School Students back today

Elementary and Secondary school students are back in the class room today. This is as Ontario remains in lock down and students in Southern Ontario are learning from home for another two weeks. This is as the Province remains in lock-down for roughly two more weeks.
 

To bus riders… no mask substitutes, please

Students on school buses today are reminded to wear a mask. Just ahead of the weekend the Nipissing Parry Sound Student Transportation services put out a reminder that mask substitutes, including Scarves, balaclavas or neck gaiters not acceptable on the bus.
 

COVID-19 outbreak at Kidd Operations in Timmins

A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at Kidd Operations in Timmins. This is after two employees at the Timmins mine have tested positive, according to the Porcupine Health Unit. One person lives in the health unit region and the other is from another health unit area. The investigation has determined that the cases are related. Both are in self-isolation.
The province reported 3,945 new COVID-19 infections yesterday. Among cases number in Northern Ontario 19 were reported by Public Health Sudbury and districts.
 

Sault Ste Marie Fire personnel respond to Saturday call for service

Sault Ste Marie Firefighters were called to the fire Saturday morning just after 9:30. The call came in from the 100 block of Willow Ave. Paramedics were called in to check two-unit occupants. The scene was cleared at 11 a.m. There was no word of on the cause, nor the total damage done.
 

It could take until 2026 for passenger numbers go back to normal

The Sault Ste. Marie Airport says it could take until 2026 until passenger numbers to return normal. That said airport is hoping to land 210,000 passengers in 2024-2025 before finally returning to pre-COVID-19 numbers in the following year.
 

City of North Bay announcing redesign contract in January

The awarding of a contract for the design and reconstruction of North Bay’s Main Street is expected this month. That work would include the interlocking brick roadway, the sidewalks, curb and gutter, retaining walls, stairs, railings, benches, and lighting, Submissions were accepted until Dec. 3.
