North Bay Parry Sound, Public Health Sudbury and Districts areas moves into the “Red-Control”

The Ontario Government says the catchment areas for the North Bay Parry Sound District and Public Health Sudbury and districts will move into the red, or control, level of the province’s colour-coded framework for COVID-19 starting Monday. A statement released by the province says effective Monday at 12:01 a.m., Ontario’s stay-at-home order will no longer be in effect for North Bay Parry Sound District, Toronto and Peel Region. Public Health Sudbury and districts is moving from the Red, control, from the Orange restrict.
Elsewhere, the Timiskaming region is joining the Timmins area at the orange level, restrict, COVID-19 colour coded system.
Vaccine News: Health Canada has authorizes a one-shot COVID-19 vaccine. It’s from and Johnson & Johnson. Canada’s federal health agency has been assessing the Johnson & Johnson shot since Nov. 30, and like the AstraZeneca, it is expected to be easier to administer as it can be shipped and stored in fridges rather than freezers. The federal government has secured access to up to 38 million doses of the new vaccine.
Outbreak Update:  The outbreak at Cassellholme in North Bay is over. A statement Friday from the health unit says it and Cassellholme staff and management “worked diligently to manage the outbreak and ensure” the safety of residents, staff and essential visitors.
Exposure Warning:  Algoma Public Health is reporting one new COVID-19 case in the region. The exposure, case number 200 for the region since the start of the pandemic was tested on March 3.  The Health Unit is also advising that anyone who travelled on a pair of Air Canada flights on March 1 to contact Algoma Public Health. Flight AC481 from Montreal to Toronto in rows 27 to 33 as well as the flight crew that may have served those rows or on flight AC 8321 from Toronto to Sault Ste. Marie in rows five to 11 as well as flight crew that may have served those rows are considered close contacts.
New Cases: Public Health Sudbury and Districts are reporting 30 new cases of COVID-19 today, 29 of which are in Greater Sudbury. One is in the district. Of the new cases, 14 have screened positive for a Variant of Concern.
Meanwhile, three new COVID-19 cases have been reported (March 4th) by the Timiskaming Health Unit. Reported yesterday, one case is linked to the outbreak at the Kirkland Lake Gold’s Macassa Mine. All three cases are under investigation and the individuals are self-isolating.
