Pioneer Manor is getting a well needed upgrade

Sudbury city council has given the go-ahead to upgrade Pioneer manor. Earlier this month, the province announced funding to construct a new building at the site, with 122 upgraded spaces, and 38 new spaces. It’s part of a $933 million investment in new and upgraded long-term care spaces across the province.
 

One new case of COVID-19 reported by the APH

One more Algoma District resident has tested positive for COVID-19. The Elliot Lake resident is self-isolating. The individual is said to have caught the virus from close contact.
 

32-new cases of COVID-19 announced by PHSD

In the latest numbers of COVID-19, reported yesterday, Public Health Sudbury and Districts is reporting 32 new cases of COVID-19 and one new death. Meanwhile the North Bay Parry Sound Health Unit reported one new case today. It was an individual in the 60-79 age bracket. There are now just four active cases, all in Nipissing.
 

Those in the Timmins area 70+ should hold off with a vaccine appointment

The Porcupine Health Unit are encouraging those 70 years and up to hold off making a COVID-19 vaccine appointment. While 11 health units have started booking appointments for people 70 years and older. Only one Northern Ontario health unit — Timiskaming — made the list. The Porcupine Health Unit indicates they’re still working though the previous age group.

Meanwhile,

Those in the Health Unit area for Public Health Sudbury and districts, aged 75 and older, are being encouraged to book now for their COVID-19 vaccine. This is all before the vaccine appointment process is opened up to younger residents.
 

North Bay Parry Sound Health Unit continues to administer vaccines

The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit administered 883 more doses of COVID-19 vaccine yesterday, over the previous day. That brings its total to date up past 16,180. This includes first and second doses to both residents and non-residents who were immunized in the health unit district.
 

Splash Pad Upgrades will wait – Timmins City Council

A vote on awarding the contract to upgrade the South Porcupine splash pad will wait. The project was up for discussion at Timmins council’s during the latest meeting of city council, but is now being pushed back to next month. The staff recommendation is to award a near $400k ($394,875) job to contractors for the work needed.
