Today’s Victory Verse – Living through suffering (1st Thessalonians 3:13)

1st Thessalonians 3:13

(That) he may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints.

Today’s Devotional

This is one of Paul’s first letters to the church. He’s writing to encourage them in the face of persecution because of their faith in Jesus (3:4).  He’s essentially saying that suffering is a way to participate in the story of Christ because Christ also suffered (2:13-16).  He prays for them, that their love would increase (2:8) and that they would have the strength to live for the gospel (3:11-13).  When we suffer for the gospel, the goal is to pray for strength, yes, but that we would aim to be blameless ahead of the day that we stand before God.
