Budget talks in Greater Sudbury

Property taxes for Greater Sudbury Residents are likely going to go up. Council began the discussion this week regarding the 2018 budget process, which will determine the tax hike. Staff had recommended a 3.5 per cent increase, but final deliberations will not take place until December.
In addition, It was reported that the city’s snowplowing budget for 2017 was $700,000 in the red as a result of snowfall in March. That’s up from $680,000 in the first two months of the year. A reserve fund is being used to make up shortfalls.
