No school buses in Timmins today
Timmins school buses have been canceled for today. All school purposed transportation vehicles in the area have also been cancelled. Schools remain open.
Construction completed on Maley Drive
It should be clear sailing for Sudbury drivers, at least, when it comes to construction for those wishing to use Maley Drive. Road repairs to a collapses culvert has been completed and the effect area of the road is once again open to traffic.
$1.5 mil to ease the North Bay tax levy
The city of North Bay has received unexpected boost in provincial funding, just in time for the Christmas season. City council says that next year’s proposed tax levy increase is now sitting at less than one per cent thanks to an additional $1.5 million from the Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund.
Search warrant leads to arrest
OPP in the Cochrane area say they’ve made an arrest. This is after they were informed about regarding the whereabouts of some stolen property. Reports say that lead to a search warrant and the recovery several items from a residence on Maple Avenue in the Town of Smooth Rock Falls, Ontario. A 45-year-old woman is facing charges.
Convention centre decision delayed
Sudbury City council has delayed their decision when it comes to the projected art gallery/library and the convention centre. It has been recommended by a staff report that the project move into the where the Sudbury Arena stands now on Elgin Street. The whole project, worth 63 million dollars, would have 19,500 square feet of space to rent, a 950-seat hall, and 13,000 square foot hall for conventions.
Two men on the hook in Swan Shooting
Two Northern Ontario males have been charged in the shooting of Trumpeter Swans. The Swans are protected and recovering species in Ontario. The two men, from Englehart, have received combined penalties of $5,000.
