An Arctic Vortex on the way?

It’s going to be another cold start to the day. And it’s not looking like it could warm up in the near future. Meteorologists say that while January could end with a little snow, February will usher in an Arctic Vortex, bringing with it another extended period. While the day time is said to be -10… the overnight lows could see -30°C.
 

Missing: Joseph Topping, 31

OPP says that Joseph TOPPING, a 31 year old male had not been heard from since the beginning of January, 2018. He is described as white, approximately 6′ tall, medium build, 180 pounds, short brown hair and balding, blue eyes, full beard, and was last seen on January 7, 2018.

Truck retrieval underway

The ministry of Environment and Climate Change is now involved in the removal process of a truck from Lake Nipissing. This is after a pick-up broke through a pressure crack on Lake Nipissing last week and sank. It all happened a few hundred metres from Lonely Island.
 

South Porcupine facing 8 charges

A South Porcupine man is now going to have to answer to multiple charges, following a single traffic stop. The OPP say it all began a stop on Highway 101 South for what they say was a traffic violation. The 52-year-old driver, must now answer to 8 charges… including Unauthorized plates, failure to surrender insurance, and stunt driving.
 

City of Greater Sudbury partners with Heart and Stroke

The City of Greater Sudbury is going farther when it comes to life saving measures for residence. The city says in partnership with the Heart and Stroke Foundation they’re working to improve survival rates of cardiac arrest victims. During the months of February and March, the two organizations will offer free, hands-only CPR training sessions to residents.

Floyd Laughren receiving Order of Ontario

A well-known retired Sudbury politician is receiving the Order of Ontario. Floyd Laughren is one of 23 new appointees to the province’s highest honour. The Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, Elizabeth Dowdeswell made the announcement this week. Between 1971 and 1998, Laughren was the New Democratic member of provincial parliament for Nickel Belt. He was the finance minister for five years
