Sudbury Police searching for a possible missing child (UPDATED: FOUND)

The Greater Sudbury Police is currently investigating an unconfirmed report of a missing child. Canvassing is being done through the reported area, along with a K9 search; along with a coordinated ground search. Once again, this is an uncorroborated report of a missing child in Greater Sudbury. Anyone with information should contact Police.
 

Fire displaces one in East Ferris

At least one resident has been displaced following a fire in East Ferris. Volunteer firefighters responded to a blaze just before 5am on Derland Road yesterday in the Corbiel area. Upon arrival, the home was fully involved. A homeowner was able to escape without injury. There is no word as to the cause.
 

31-year-old charged with fraud

Timmins Police Service received a call over the weekend, regarding an alleged fraud at a city business. Based on the investigation into the fraud, a male party is alleged to have tried to use a stolen cheque to secure funds from the business. A 31-year-old is being charges including possession of property obtained by crime.
 

Site approved for train station build

Sault Ste. Marie City councilors have approved the lifting of a holding provision that will allow the SIS Group, to go ahead with its plans to build a new train station at the former St. Mary’s Paper site. The proposal also includes a skating rink and areas for community events. The application lists 87, 95 and 107 Huron Street as the civic addresses that would allow for the construction of the station and other related tourism uses.
 

Fatal accident closes highway 17

A fatal crash closed part of Highway 17 west of Sudbury yesterday. Sudbury OPP said in an early-evening tweet that “multiple vehicles (were) involved” in the collision and at least one person had died. The eastbound lanes of the highway between Whitefish and Sudbury were closed, as was the ramp from Highway 144 to Highway 17.
 

Male facing charges for alleged break and enter

A 32-year-old man faces numerous charges after he allegedly tried to enter several vehicles. Police say they got the call of someone checking doors in a residential area off Algonquin Avenue. At one location entry was gained to a vehicle, however an alarm was activated, and the police were called.
