Today is election day
Ontario voters sharpen their pencils today, and head to the polls. It’s election day to decide who will be the next Ontario Premier. Up for the Job of Premier is PC lead Doug Ford, Andrea Horwath the leader of the NDP and Incumbent Kathleen Wynn. Polls are open today from 9:00am
Multi-Vehicle Collision in Greater Sudbury
Greater Sudbury Police and EMS responded to a collision, at the front end of the drive home yesterday afternoon, on Lasalle Boulevard at Paquette Street. While there is no word as to what caused the crash, traffic needed to be rerouted so that both vehicles could be helped off the scene by tow truck. One person was treated by paramedics at the scene.
More work coming for the Kate Pace-Way
More road, and trail work in North Bay starts up this week and is slated to run until the fall. Included in the work is more rehabilitation of the Kate Pace Way multi-use pathway on Memorial Drive from Stanley to Monk streets and on the Cranberry Trail approx. 400m north of Cranberry Road. Roads will remain open to both vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
Farmers market forced to wait
Those hoping to sell fresh produce and product in the city of Timmins will have to exercise patience, when it comes to a new Farmer’s market location. This is after Timmins City Council turned down an out-of-town firm wanting to start up a farmers’ market this summer in the McIntyre Curling Club. Some on council said that key information was lacking, and ultimately, the majority decided to wait.
Work being done this Summer on Track and Field
St. Mary’s College in Sault Ste. Marie is getting some work done on its track and field this Summer. The project is one of five valued at more than $1.4 million rubber stamped by Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board trustees at a meeting on Tuesday. The work pegged at $106,700 will see work done for areas affecting long jump, javelin and high jump, begins when school ends in June.
Fire does 200k worth of damage
A fire at an industrial building in Greater Sudbury has done significant damage. $200,000 worth. The call came in regarding the Maley Drive location at about 3:30 a.m. It took 17 firefighters from three stations and five fire vehicles to contain the blaze. There were no injuries, and no word as to the cause.
