Lock Down Lifted on North Bay City Hall

North Bay city hall is open today, following a lockdown yesterday. Police say that at around 3:40 pm employees of City Hall received messages from a male containing threats aimed at not only himself, but at employees of City Hall. Police say that employees were safely evacuated, and the investigation is ongoing.
 

Remains ID’d as missing Aurora man

The human remains found by Sudbury OPP found near a truck along the Killarney highway have been identified. A post-mortem was conducted, and the identity of the deceased has been confirmed as missing 63-year-old Aurora. Jack Patrick had been reported missing from York Region in January and is the registered owner of the truck.
 

Collision involves two in the Sault

There is no word as to the cause of an accident that injured two yesterday in Sault Ste. Marie. The two-vehicle crash happened at Old Garden River Road and Second Line East at about 2:20 p.m. The collision slowed traffic for some time at the busy north-end intersection.
 

Traffic cams given the red light

The possibility of red light in Greater Sudbury will have to wait. At least for now. This is after the finance committee made the decision this week to defer a decision to implement cameras at six intersections in Sudbury. They say that the decision is pending more information. Red light cameras typically snap two photos of a license plate in an attempt to curb drivers from blowing through red lights. Tickets are then mailed to vehicle owners.
 

HSN building training facility

Construction at Health Sciences North is showing new signs of a training facility of sorts. Work has begun on the hospital’s new 28,000 square-foot Learners’ Centre. Once completed in 2020, it will be a hands-on training ground place where future doctors, lab technicians, nurses and paramedics. Construction is expected to last 18 months.
 

Slow down in Timmins, work underway

The City of Timmins is asking residents to slow down through the city on the way to work this week. They say that crews are out doing all kinds of work from crack resealing to full out repaving. The city’s CAO Dave Landers told reporters this week that’s been a particularly rough winter, and a number of spots need work.

23-year-old man faces domestic charges

A 23-year-old is facing charges, following an argument that turned violent. Police say that they were called to a domestic dispute at around 2:40am yesterday where the accused had allegedly attended the residence of his ex-girlfriend, where the altercation took place. At the time, the accused was under a court order, not to communicate with the victim.
