Evacuations following wildfire in the North
Roughly 30 residents in the Temagami area have been driven from their homes. This is in the face of approaching wildfires. Those from Jesse Lake to the Lake Temagami Access Road are on standby notice, while residents of Temagami North are on alert for evacuation. Both Marten River and Finlayson Point provincial parks have been evacuated.
One dead following boat collision
One person is dead following a collision involving a boat. It happened on Lake Wanapitei. Emergency services say they responded to a collision involving at least one male. Despite being provided with life saving measure by the paramedics the man was pronounced deceased. The Greater Sudbury Police took to twitter early yesterday to say the accident remains under investigation.
Plane clash claims one in West Nipissing
At least one person has died following an airplane crash in West Nipissing. Reports say it happened yesterday at about 12:45 p.m. in the Kipling area of the community. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has been notified and will be conducting the investigation of the crash.
Collision investigation underway
A traffic collision in Sault Ste. Marie remains under investigation. Reports say it happened at Wellington St. E and Trunk Road yesterday. A pick-up truck and a scooter were both allegedly involved. The scooter driver was taken to hospital by ambulance as the investigation continues.
Garage lost in weekend blaze
Sudbury Fire Crews spent some of Saturday at the seen on a detached garage fire. It happened on Bancroft Drive. A total of 14 crews from four fire stations responded to the call. While the fire did not spread to the nearby house, but the garage was total loss, damages at $50,000.
Fire breaks out at Old Papermill
It was all lights and sirens to a warehouse fire in Iroquois Falls over the weekend. It happened at the old papermill Saturday night. Witnesses say the blaze flared up at around 8 p.m. There is currently no word as to the total damage done, nor the cause of the blaze.
