Hydro says they’ll fix property damage, caused from crews

Greater Sudbury Utilities says they’re flipping the bill, for at least some of the damages in the wake of the July 9th storm. Specifically, they will cover the cost of repairing damage to yards it created while trying to access power lines. In some cases damage was done attempting to access lines on front and back lots. There is still no word as to the final dollar amount in damage done.
 

Haze seen over North Bay from Forest Fire

A number of North Bay residents noticed a haze of smoke envelope parts of the city yesterday. Reports say that this is from a new blaze in the Parry Sound area. While there is no threat to the city itself, it did cause Environment Canada to issue an air quality statement at 11:32 pm.  Aerial fire suppression and ground crews were on site well into the evening at Parry Sound 33, a 100-hectare fire in Henvey Inlet is not yet under control.
 

Timmins Police charge local woman with Mischief

Timmins Police say they’ve laid Mischief charges on a local woman, after damage was done to two vehicles. This is after officers were told the back side of the building and two municipal vehicles had been smeared with paint. The exact dollar value related to the damage has not yet been determined, but the 34-year-old will be in court next month.
 

Area of McNabb Street closed for 6-weeks

Sault Ste. Marie drivers are being advised of a road closure on McNabb Street. It’s in place from Great Northern Road to Willow Avenue and will be in place for six weeks. They say the closure is necessary to allow for a drainage Improvements Project. Algoma Family Services will be accessible off of Herbert Street.
 

Wanted man among trio charged in Greater Sudbury

A tip to Sudbury Police has lead to the charges of trio found in the city. This is after word came in that a wanted individual from Southern Ontario was in the Greater Sudbury area and could be in possession of a firearm. While conducting surveillance, the officers saw three people enter a vehicle in the parking lot of the motel. The individuals range in age from 19 – 38
 

Timmins drivers warned to slow down

A day after Timmins residents were told to slow down, especially in the area of Sandy Falls road… they are speaking out once again in regard to construction zones.

Constable Marc Depatie is with Timmins Police and explains.
