Alleged fraud suspect sought

OPP west of Sudbury are looking for two people. This is following an alleged fraud at a Tim Hortons in McKerrow where a counterfeit Canadian $100 bill was used to pay for an order. The woman distracted the cashier, while the man payed.
The man is described as approximately 65 years of age, wearing a brown hat, green sweater, jeans and had breathing tubes to his nose with a small tank. The woman is described as approximately 30 years of age, wearing a grey and green shirt, jeans, and carrying a brown purse.
 

Ombudsman looking into slated school closure

The Ontario Ombudsman says they’re looking to a board decision. This all surrounds the Near North District School Board’s decision to close Widdifield Secondary School rather than follow an accommodation review committee recommendation to close Chippewa SS. Currently there is no further information as the investigation is underway.
 

PUC working toward power restoration

The lights are back for many following strong winds leading to downed trees and hydro poles. The PUC in Sault Ste. Marie says they’ve been working to restore all power to all customers throughout the city since high winds downed trees and hydro poles. They say that there are some customers without power due to significant storm damage.
 

New chronic pain program up and running

A new clinic is now up and running. This week, Health Sciences North officially opened the Integrated Chronic Pain Program, which operates out of the Sudbury Outpatient Centre on Regent Street. They say its designed to help patients through an integrated and interdisciplinary approach, lead by a team of health care specialists to treat the complex condition of chronic pain.
 

Fines must be paid, following illegal dumping

A culprit in an illegal garbage dump has been found. It all happened along the old rail bed east of Beaucage Park Road. Upon a police investigation, it was discovered that a contractor was hired by a resident of Nipissing First Nation to clean out garage and properly dispose of the items. He must now pay a clean up bill to avoid legal action.
 

Ontario NE region down to 2 fires

After a hot and dry summer, The Ministry of Natural Resources says Ontario is down to two active forest in the northeast. They say one of the them is Parry Sound 33 remains under control as crews continue to seek and douse hot spots. Both fires remain under control. The next update will be coming on October 9th.
