While cross-border shopping can offer certain perks to purchasers…. it can also kill Canadian jobs. Today, Lowes announced it would be closing its Rona store on Black Road AND its Lowes store on Northern Avenue – both located in Sault Ste Marie. In a news release that named 31 Canadian stores that will be closing, Sudbury’s Rona Brand store was also on the list. The company says that the move as a result of under-performing sales, and that most closures will take place by February 1st of 2019.
