Man turns himself in for vandalism
First, a local man has been charged, after turning himself in for vandalism. The target? The Sudbury water tower. The 31-year-old walked into the Sudbury Police station yesterday at 8 a.m. Tuesday, and walked out with a Misdemeanor charge of Mischief Under $5,000. The damage to the water tower was estimated at approximately $2,800.
Gravel pit still under discussion
Those waiting to hear about a potential gravel Pit in the Timmins area will have to wait a little longer. It was almost a full year ago that the Ontario Municipal Board sat down for a week-long hearing into whether a Timmins family would be allowed to create a gravel pit on a section of land next to the Mattagami River in the city’s West End. This week, the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal, said a decision is hoped for by the end of this year.
Sault Man facing impaired driving charges
A 22-year-old Sault Ste. Marie man is facing impaired driving charges. They say this is after officers were called to an address in the 1500 block of Queen Street East regarding a male who was unconscious behind in the driver’s seat of a motor vehicle with the keys in the ignition. The male awoke when officers arrived and soon after it was determined that his ability to operate the motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Missing Woman: Jamie McCall
The search continues for a missing woman in Greater Sudbury. Authorities say they’re looking for 33-year-old Jamie McCall. Gone now since November 4th, McCall was last seen in the area of Health Sciences North. There was word she may have been spotted near the Shoppers Drug Mart on Elm Street on the 19th. She was wearing a black hoodie.
Structure blamed on Structure Fire
North Bay firefighters responded to a structure fire on Gormanville Road. It happened shortly before 2:30 p.m. yesterday. Fire crews were on scene within minutes and once the fire was out it was determined that a mattress had caught fire in one of the bedrooms. Fire personnel say that all smoke detectors in the building were working at the time, and there were no injuries.
The tenants are unable to re-enter the home at this time and their needs are being looked after by the Red Cross and Near North Victim Services personnel.
