31-year-old succumbs to injuries

An accident last Friday morning, has now turned fatal. It all began with an accident involving two vehicles at around 7:30am on Municipal Road 55 east of Whitefish in the town of Walden. A 31-year-old driver sent to health sciences north in that accident, said to be in critical condition has now succumbed to injuries. Her name is being withheld at this time.

Two charges following disturbance, assault on Police

Two from Timmins have been charged after a disturbance outside a downtown tavern. It happened yesterday. While on patrol Police came upon a disturbance in progress and when the officer attempted to restore order, they and a second offer were allegedly assaulted. The suspects, a man in his 40’s and the Woman in her 20’s will be in court next month.
 

Santa fund delivers 650 baskets

Santa fund hampers have once again been delivered in North Bay. Volunteers came out in droves, offering elbow grease and readied vehicles ensure over 650 North Bay families have enough food and presents to enjoy the holidays. As of yesterday, the group had reached $135,000 of their $145,000 annual goal to cover the annual initiative.
 

Break and enter numbers in for 2018 – Sault Ste. Police

As year end number roll in, Sault Ste. Marie Police say they’ve rolled out to a number of break and enter calls in 2018. In all over $170,000 worth of personal property has been recovered. Officers are continuing to identify potential victims of theft, but they say, much of that property has already been returned to the rightful owners. Over 1,200 criminal charges have been laid.
 

Wind chills come with warm reminders

Many in the North are getting a chill this morning, as they start their Christmas Eve. A windchill that is. The Homelessness Network of Sudbury says an extreme cold weather alert will be in place until at least noon today. By the windchills alone, this morning, it feels like -20, while tomorrow, the 25th…. It’s coincidently going to feel, in the morning like -25. They’re not alone though as many places in the North are feeling the cold… in Timmins this morning, it’s -22.
 

Historic Museum coming back for 2019

Looking into 2019, a North Bay Landmark will once again be open to the Public. The Dionne Quints Heritage Board says the museum’s timeline this year was pushed back due to the fall election, but now they expect to be fully operational for June or July 2019. $15,000 was needed to do some landscaping around the relocated home after its’ move from the Highway 11/17 bypass.
