Election results discussion deferred

A report on the October Sudbury election night delay has been deferred. This discussion will come back to city council in April when it will include options on how residents will vote next time around.

The redevelopment of the former Dr. MacDougall Public School in North Bay will soon be underway. This is all to create nearly 90 child spaces and an indigenous hub in the community. The work is expected be complete in late fall or early winter.

Timmins City council is going ahead on the creation of a new corporate communications officer. It was discussed this week again at Timmins city hall. This is after Mayor George Pirie requested a report be prepared by CAO Dave Landers.
 

“No Foul Play” in Sault Ste Marie Fire

No foul play is suspected in the Sault Ste Marie Fire at the 89 Hudson Street Property. The fire proved to be fatal in the death of a 60-year-old male tenant. The building is now slated for demolition.
 

Trudeau pays a visit to Sudbury

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s was in Sudbury yesterday. As part of the tour, he toured the Maley Drive extension construction site. A third of the $80.1-million project is being funding by the federal government.
 

Two suspects identified in purse theft

North Bay Police are looking for two suspects in a theft investigation. This is was after a woman had her purse taken from a table on Lakeshore Drive. A man grabbed the purse and left the store with a woman on foot.

HSN looking to “expand” in the face of patient-overflow

HSN CEO Dominic Giroux says that with patient overflow at an all-time high, the hospital needs more beds, specifically at the Ramsey Lake Health Centre. That could entail its central tower undergoing renovations. Those renovations would cost $3.5 million and require ministry approval.
