A new case of COVID-19 in Northern Ontario
A new case of COVID-19 has been reported in the North East. Its been reported by Algoma Public Health. The 22nd such case in the health care unit’s region. It’s unknown how the individual was exposed. They are now self-isolating.
Drinking water advisory in place for Foleyet
A drinking water advisory has been issued for Foleyet. Public Health Sudbury & Districts issued it yesterday. A drinking water advisory means that people who take their water from the municipal system should not use it for consumption.
Reading meters resumes in Timmins next week
The cost of metered water service in Timmins is getting switched back on. Starting June 15, staff will recommence reading water meters throughout the city. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, the previous bill was averaged.
New Patio fees waved in North Bay
North Bay city council has waived fees for the creation of new or expanded outdoor patios until Oct. 13. The move came just 24 hours after the province announced the second phase of reopening businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and it was approved unanimously.
Storm does damage in parts of Ontario, some lose power
Severe thunderstorms accompanied by winds approaching 100km in some places battered parts of the province yesterday. In Bracebridge alone, trees were brought town and caused heavy damage. Here in Northern Ontario a number of people lost power.
LPAT sets Sept 17th as it’s next session
The Local Planning Appeals Tribunal in Greater Sudbury has set Sept. 17 as the date that it will hear from the groups opposing the Kingsway Entertainment District. It could go into Sept. 18. That said, both dates are tentative at this point and could be changed, depending on the time frame needed for a Superior Court of Justice ruling in a separate motion.

OPP looking for stolen boat and trailer
Manitoulin OPP is looking for a truck trailer and boat. Assumed to be stolen, they were driven off from a Little Current property. The truck is a black, 2017 Ford F150. The boat is a Lowe Roughneck 16-foot fishing boat wrapped in Mossy Oak camouflage.

A pickup truck with an Ontario licence plate AR86975;
A silver 2015 Kara LB1 boat trailer with Ontario licence plate L3503M;
A Lowe Roughneck 16-foot fishing boat wrapped in Mossy Oak camouflage (Hull #LWC01892J415) with a 25hp Mercury electric tiller motor attached.
The boat cover, a faded grey/pinkish boat tarp.
