Mind your speed on your way to work
Sudbury OPP are reminding drivers to watch their speed mid-week as they head out the door. In their recent Operation Safe Driver campaign, 41 drivers were caught going over the posted limit, while 5 were charged with Careless driving.

Greater Sudbury Police traffic officers stopped a pair of drivers for speeding yesterday. A 30-year-old man was stopped for driving over 130 km/h in a 60 km/h zone on MR 15. And at 3 p.m., a 24-year-old man was charged similar speeds on Maley Drive. Both drivers were charged with stunt driving and their vehicles were impounded.
North Bay Library will reopen in September, likely
The North Bay Public Library says they will continue with curbside service “for the foreseeable future. The interior reconstruction is underway at this time and the Library says they may be ready to reopen around Labour Day.
Gold open pit mine expected to create 450 full-time jobs
IAMGOLD Corporation has been given the green light to begin construction on its Côté Gold open-pit mine near Gogama. Announced Tuesday, construction will ramp up this year and continue over a three-year period, providing roughly 1,000 jobs during construction, and 450 full-time jobs once in full operation.
One taken to hospital following a two-vehicle collision
One person has been taken to hospital following a two-vehicle yesterday in North Bay. It occurred at 2:30 pm by Lakeshore Drive and Marshall Avenue. Fire & Emergency Services both responded along with Police who are investigating.
Rain expected to help with forest fires
The rain today is expected to help today when it comes to wildfires. In total, there are seven active fires across the region. One fire is under control and four are being observed.
Gas leak closes intersection in Sault Ste Marie
A suspected gas leak in Sault Ste Marie closed down the corner of Bay and East Streets yesterday. Bay Street was also closed from Spring to Queen as personnel responded. People in nearby residences were cautioned to close their windows until the issue was resolved.
