One new case of COVID-19 in the Timmins area
The Porcupine Health Unit is reporting one new case of COVID-19. The case involves a man in his 70s. He is currently in isolation at Timmins and District Hospital and the investigation remains ongoing regarding any potential exposure to others.
NIP U has appointed a new teaching chair
Nipissing University has appointed Douglas Gosse as its new teaching chair in learning outcomes. The university announced the appointment Wednesday, indicating Gosse will support teaching innovation at the institution for a two-year term starting this month.

North Bay fire turns fatal
One person has died following a structure fire in North Bay. It happened at an abandoned home off Pinewood Park Drive at Lakeshore Drive at around 9:30 pm yesterday. The victim was taken to hospital but did succumb to injuries. The Fire Marshall’s office is onsite.
OPP arrest two after a break and enter North of Capreol
West Nipissing OPP has arrested two males in their 20’s in connection to a break and enter that occurred in Roberts Township. It happened at a camp located north of Capreol. This is after two male suspects allegedly utilized their blue Jeep Patriot vehicles (plates removed) to ram a steel gate in order to gain access to the property. They then stole numerous items, estimated to be $10,000 in value.
New splash pad tomorrow! 15th for Greater Sudbury
A new splash pad officially opens this Friday at the Twin Forks playground on Gary Avenue in New Sudbury. Municipal funding and community fundraising efforts combined to realize the project. This represents the 15th splash pad in the City of Greater Sudbury.
