HSN allowing visitors for patients, but there a condition.

HSN is relaxing its rules on how many visitors patients are allowed while in hospital. For months, visitors have not been allowed except in extreme circumstances. Now, each person who is admitted or comes to the ER can have one designated visitor. Patients will get to choose their own visitors.
 

Police seek driver in hit-and-run

West Nipissing OPP is looking for the female driver that fled the scene of a collision. It occurred in Sturgeon Falls at the intersection of Salter Street and Main Street. The cyclist made eye contact with the driver of the car, but when they proceeded to cross they were subsequently struck. The car drove around the cyclist and left the scene proceeding eastbound onto Railway Street. Thankfully cyclist was not injured.
Further details: It happened Monday at around 7:30 pm – 8:00 pm. The vehicle that fled the scene is described as a dark red/burgundy sedan. The female driver is described as white, 45-50 years of age, with dark hair. The investigation is continuing.
 

Upgrades approved for the Victor M. Power airport

Timmins council has approved 1.9 million dollars, for runway upgrades at the airport. In June, a $7.5-million contract for the rehabilitation and resurfacing of two runways was awarded. Staff recommended adding an additional 25 millimetres of asphalt to the runways, which would add $1.9 million to the budget.
 

Art Gallery of Algoma reopens today – for members only

After months of closure due to COVID-19, The Art Gallery of Algoma (AGA) will reopen today. On Friday and Saturday, the gallery will be open to members only, before opening to the general public next week. Admission next week will be by donation.
 

South River increases taxes by 2%

A little more than half-way through the year and South River has increased its budget by two per cent. For most that will bring the average tax increase to $12.60. Staff say the increase is mostly due to inflation.
