Latest case of COVID-19 is a woman in her 20’s
Public Health Sudbury & Districts is confirming another case of COVID-19. The woman in her 20’s has no travel or contact with a known case. Through contact tracing, Public Health will notify all close contacts directly.
OPP looking for a missing woman
OPP in Greater Sudbury is looking for a missing Sudbury woman. This is after reports that her vehicle was found abandoned in a gravel pit north of the city. 26-year-year-old Connie Richards, last seen on the afternoon of Aug. 4… when it was reported to police that she was driving erratically in the area of Fox Lake Lodge. Anyone with information should contact police.
63-year-old rider succumbs to injuries
A 63-year-old rider of a motorcycle that crashed at Friday on Highway 11, north of South River, has died. OPP say the motorcycle was northbound when the rider lost control and went into the centre median, suffering serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. The rider was taken to hospital by Parry Sound Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and succumbed to his injuries Sunday.
Road remains closed following Watermain break
A broken water main continues to result in the closure of Airport Road just south of Bozzer Park in Timmins. The hope was that they could get the pipe fixed and the whole backfilled for morning’s commute. There is no word as to an updated timeline.
Driver sought after vehicle hits hydro poll
Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is looking to the public for information after a motor vehicle struck a hydro pole. It happened in the downtown area Friday. Police say the collision happened at the corner of Albert Street and East Street at approximately 10:20 pm. Anyone with information is asked to call police. There have been no reported injuries.
Construction slated to be complete in October
The completion of the Callander Bay Drive – Highway 94 intersection is slated to be completed in late October. The work is expected to cost $5,7 million dollars. The contract also includes improvements to pavement and drainage of the scenic lookout area for Lake Nipissing.

Sault Ste Marie Airport won’t resume normal operations until 2023-2024
The Sault Ste. Marie Airport is now expected to reach out to the Provincial and Federal Government for assistance. The airport says they likely will not resume normal operations until 2023 or 2024 as travellers slowly return to air travel during the COVID-19 pandemic.
