11- buses not running this week in Greater Sudbury
A total of 11 school bus routes will not be running the fifth week in Greater Sudbury. This is all due to a lack of school buses returning the to wheel in the face of the pandemic. The Sudbury Student Services Consortium have contacted the affected families.
Highway 11 Truck fire under investigation
Emergency services responded to a truck fire on Highway 11 Sunday afternoon. It happened around 2 p.m. on Highway 11 near the Lake Nosbonsing Road turnoff. By the time crews got to the site witnesses say they truck was fully ingulfed. It’s unknown at this time the cause of the fire or if there were any injuries.
4 people taken to hospital after three-vehicle accident
Sault Ste. Marie Police Service says four people were taken to hospital as the result of a three-vehicle collision Saturday evening. It happened near the intersection of Second Line West and Second Avenue. It’s believed all four sustained serious injuries, and the investigation is ongoing.
Missing youth: 12-year-old Drayce David
Timmins Police is looking for a missing child. 12-year-old Drayce David is an indigenous male, 4’11 tall, weighing approximately 80lbs. He has brown eyes, brown medium length hair. He was last seen by a family member on Thursday afternoon on Oct. 1, 2020. He was wearing a black hoodie, black sweat pants and black running shoes.
DSSAB hopes to have 37 beds available before Christmas
The city of North Bay hopes to have 37 beds available for the homeless before Christmas. DSSAB (District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board) says they’re still waiting on word on whether it will receive $4.2 million to help support this initiative. The property, located on Chippewa Street, will offer two types of housing – emergency shelter and transitional housing.
Science North lays off 22-employees
Science North is Greater Sudbury is going through a slew of layoffs. 22 salaried employees. In short, Science North has seen visitors drop sharply during the pandemic, being closed for four months and then seeing only 8,000 visitors this summer, down from the usual 50,000.

The South Porcupine Food Bank is offering their thanks for area residents. Ahead of thanksgiving, a total estimated 298 lbs of food have been donated. While the need is always there, food banks says thanksgiving often sees an increase every year.
Sault Ste Marie library delays its reopening
The much-anticipated reopening of the North Branch library in Sault Ste Marie… has been delated. It’s all due to the ongoing pandemic. In addition the downtown James L. McIntyre Centennial Library will continue with its current hours. Curbside service is still available.
