“Slow down” say City Police, OPP
North Bay OPP will step up patrols following numerous complaints about speeding and other Highway Traffic Act violations in the municipalities of East Ferris and Powassan. Police say the goal is to increase awareness and ensure highway.

Sault Ste. Marie Police are reminding drivers to slow down follow a slew of RIDE checks. Peoples Rd., Black Rd., and Fifth Line were all locations for stops, based on concerns raised by community members… while there were no impaired charges, in one location, out of 150 vehicles 93 speeding tickets.
One new case of COVID-19 announced by Sudbury Health Unit
One new case of COVID-19 case has been announced by Public Health Sudbury & Districts. The new case is in the Sudbury District. The exposure category is listed as pending.
Lock it or lose it – Timmins Police
Timmins Police are reminding residents to lock-it-or-lose it following an increase in break-ins. Break-ins are up by more than 26 per cent this year. That works out to 295 this year thus far, compared to 218 last year. That said, the bulk of those came when people were closing up shop at the start of the pandemic.
Reminder of a new stop sign in Sault Ste Marie
Sault Ste Marie Drivers are being reminded of a new stop sign installed at the intersection of Albert and Andrew Street. The City of Sault Ste. Marie says this is all to address the on-going traffic safety concern at the busy intersection. Motorists are to treat the intersection as an all-way stop.
After 30-years, the Humane Society is expanding
The North Bay and District humane society is expanding, for the first time in 30-years. It’s all to help curb pet overpopulation and help animals being housed. The hope is to build a brand new 3,200 square foot standalone adoption centre to be opened in the Fall of 2021.
LU getting a federal boost thanks to the Federal Government
Laurentian University will get a boost from the federal government in their efforts to understand and fight the coronavirus. This week, the Canada Foundation for Innovation announced researchers with in the school will receive $200,000 for two pieces of equipment in their work.

New signs go up in Temagami
Drivers between North Bay and Kirkland Lake will see new signs up… in Temagami. The new town banner is along Highway 11, there were also new banners put up by the waterfront. The funding for the new signs came from an Association of Municipalities of Ontario grant.
