Premier expected to outline changes in Stay and Home order

The premier of Ontario is expected to outline a relaxation of its stay at home mandate today or tomorrow… however, it is anticipated that not all regions will see stores open right away. Rather – the premier will likely keep the lockdown in place for areas with higher COVID numbers.
Meanwhile, here in the north, the Timmins / Kapuskasing areas continue to see high weekly rates of infection currently sitting at 65 per one hundred thousand people. In Sudbury, that number sits at 35. In Sault Ste Marie it is 14, and in North Bay – last week there were only 4 new cases of COVID reported per one hundred thousand people.
 

Another LTC resident passes away due to COVID-19

Another resident of Amberwood Suites has passed away due to COVID-19. Public health reported the COVID-related death late Saturday. It is the 7th at Amberwood since the outbreak was declared in early January. Forty people altogether — 34 residents and six staff — tested positive for the virus at the facility.
 

New COVDID-19 outbreaks declared

Public Health Sudbury & Districts has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at HSN. This is after a patient and staff member at the Ramsey Lake Health Centre tested positive for COVID-19. The outbreak affects two hallways (J and K) of the sixth floor of the South Tower.
Meanwhile,
COVID-19 outbreaks have been declared the Elizabeth Centre and at Pioneer Manor, both in Greater Sudbury. The outbreak at the Elizabeth centre is following the report of one case of COVID-19 in a resident (This outbreak is currently limited to the Home Area 4 of the Elizabeth Centre). The outbreak at Pioneer Manor was declared facility-wide following the report a COVID-19 case in a staff member.
Elsewhere, the North Bay Parry Sound Health Unit says a “cluster or group of COVID-19 cases” have been identified in an apartment building. Those involved are known to one another. Residents of the building are self-isolating until they receive a negative COVID-19 test.
 

New COVDID-19 variants tested

Public Health Sudbury and Districts has received confirmation from Public Health Ontario that a second individual has tested positive for the COVID-19 UK variant. Two possible cases are still pending confirmation as genome sequencing is still underway.
The Timiskaming Health Unit a COVID-19 test result has screened positive for a possible variant of concern. All positive results of COVID-19 with exposure associated to international travel are screened for variants of concern.
 

Passmore Ave area in North Bay reopens

Fears of possible explosive devices at a home on Passmore Ave. in the West Ferris area of North Bay have been defused. The criminal investigation which began on Friday resulted in the arrest of one adult male at a Passmore Street residence, and the investigation is continuing. That search has been completed and area has been reopened.
 

Highway 17 closed North of Sault Ste Marie

OPP say a highway closure remains due to weather. It’s on Hwy 17 North of Sault Ste Marie from Heyden up to Wawa. The closure went into place just before 8am yesterday and remains in place as of news time this morning.

Missing: 29-year-old Stephanie Allan

Greater Sudbury Police Service are requesting assistance in locating a missing person. Stephanie Allan is 29, She is a Caucasian female. She is 5’3″ tall, 110 lbs. with shoulder-length brown hair and hazel eyes. Allan was last seen in the area of Kathleen Street and Burton Avenue on Feb. 2 at 10 p.m.
