TDHA implements further restrictions due to COVID

Timmins and District Hospital has implemented further visitor restrictions, due to the number of COVID-19 cases in the community. Starting today, no “designated care partner visitation” will be allowed until further notice with a few exceptions. They include those giving birth or in pediatrics, for those dealing with physical or cognitive impairments, mental health, for those under 18, over 75, or palliative.
More information:
Patients giving birth will be permitted to have one designated care partner. In Pediatrics, two designated care partners will be permitted though only one will be allowed to visit at a time.
In the Emergency Department, Diagnostic Imaging and Outpatient Clinics, one designated care partner will be permitted for: Patients with communication, physical or cognitive impairments; Patients experiencing a mental health crisis; Patients requiring a care partner to be involved with significant care decisions, disclosure of potentially traumatic test results/prognosis; Patients under the age of 18.; and Patients over the age of 75. For palliative patients or patients who are at end of life, two designated care partners will be permitted.
However, no more than two visitors are allowed at the bedside simultaneously, which may be restricted to one where physical distancing cannot be maintained. Additional visitors may be considered, weighing the health and safety of all. Visits
must be approved and scheduled in advance by contacting the patient’s unit directly.
Also, in abidance with the Ministry of Health’s direction, general visitation is not permitted within the hospital. Following the announcement of an outbreak of COVID-19 at the TADH off-site hospital facility at St. Mary’s Gardens, all designated care partner visitation has been postponed until further notice at that site.
