Students on shared bus route required to self isolate

Chelmsford Valley District Composite School elementary students on one shared bus run will self-isolate until, the 31st. It’s all due to a possible exposure to COVID-19 not related to the school. There is no confirmed case of COVID-19 at the school at this time. Chelmsford Valley District Composite School remains open for in-person learning and the school will follow up with affected students who are now learning from home.
 

30 new jobs expected to come to North Bay

30 new jobs are expected in North Bay. This is thanks to a new power-to-data centre expected to break ground today. Validus Power Corp recently acquired several idle power plants across the north, with plans to re-commission them to support energy demands in the high-tech sector. The move is expected to create about 100 full-time engineer, facility operator, power plant technician, and data center technician jobs across the north. The company says that includes the proposed 32,000 square foot data center in North Bay up highway 11 North.
 

Minor injuries in a two-car crash yesterday in Porcupine

There were, thankfully, only minor injuries following an afternoon crash yesterday in Porcupine. The collision between an SUV and car happened just before 4 p.m. on Highway 101 east at the Bristol Road lights. Police said an eastbound SUV ran a red light and hit a vehicle that had entered the intersection from Bristol Road to head west on 101.
 

Ste Ste Marie school moves to online learning

The rising number of COVID cases in River View Public School in Sault Ste Marie has led to the entire school, now learning from home. According to the Algoma District School Board, there are now six active cases at River View Public School. Online learning will last for at least 10 days starting today.
 

Sudbury MPP calling for more road test centres

Sudbury MPP Jamie West has called on the province to bring more road test centres to Northern Ontario. Albeit temporary ones, this follows the word from the Ford Government during the summer that the Province would create temporary road test centres to help with the backlog of tests. That said, they were all located in southern and eastern Ontario. In a statement, the MTO says it will continue to monitor the situation in northern Ontario closely.
 

Driver runs stop sign, collides with second vehicle

Drivers are encouraged to take care, minding their morning commute. This is after Sault Police responded to a two-vehicle collision just ahead of the weekend near the corner of Wallace Terrace and Sherbourne Street. This is after one allegedly ran the stop sign. There is no word as to injures.
 

Government Pledges $21.78 million to Greater Sudbury

The Ontario government has pledged $21.78 million for the City of Greater Sudbury. It’s all part of 2022 a larger $500 million infuse in municipal funding allocations for next year. This year’s contribution is a $143,300 increase from last year’s $21.64 million.
