Here’s a look at this morning’s headlines for Tuesday, November 15

North Bay’s new council is being sworn in today, with Peter Chirico at the helm as mayor along with six new councilors and four incumbents.

A crowned gathered, in Greater Sudbury at the GSPS for the lighting of a tree, orange once again, to raise awareness of the issue of the missing and murdered Indigenous women.

Flood warnings in Timmins have been extended. The notices affect Kamiskotia Lake, Mattagami River, and Porcupine Lake as water levels on local rivers, streams, and lakes remain high after the recent rainfall.

The Sault Bridge Authority says the latest inspection report indicates the International span remains between good to fair condition, while the maintenance program designed to keep the 60-year-old span in working order was deemed “outstanding.”

One of two water mains that feed the new sub in Elliot is now being repaired following damage. As a result, there may be a slight disruption in the water service and some discoloration.

In Greater Sudbury, information for students and their families is going ahead, on Nov. 15 at Cambrian College for students entering Grade 9 next fall.

The president of Tisdale Bus Lines says they are prepared to work with the North Bay Trappers U18 team on replacing their equipment following Sunday night’s fire.

Another round of Sports for Kids applications starts this week. The hope is to help more families access and ease the cost of registration.

The Meadowview Alpaca Farm will be bringing their furry friends to the Mill Market from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., this Saturday in Sault Ste Marie. The farm housing the animals makes all sorts of products made from the sheering process.

The Lasalle Secondary School’s 60th anniversary is coming up in 2023 the group is in need of volunteers to make sure the event goes off smoothly.  The anniversary celebration is set to go from July 6-8, 2023.
